Here are some frequently asked questions regarding our website and virtual inspection tool:

Q: What does VIR stand for?
A: Virtual Inspection Request


Q: What happens if I forget my password?
A: Navigate to the Login page and click "Forgot Password?". Follow the steps to regain your password.


Q: What if my VIR (virtual inspection request) was failed?
A: If your VIR was failed, make the necessary changes as outlined in the pdf report you received in your email. From there, upload the new pictures to the job and resubmit the VIR.


Q: What if I didn't receive an email report?
A: Check your spam folder and also make sure it didn't get placed in any other folders. If you still can't find it, contact the jurisdiction that you submitted your VIR to and ask them to resend the email.


Q: Are my inspections reviewed by Code Plus Inspections?
A: No. Code Plus Inspections is only a no-contact tool to link contractors or homeowners with the jurisdiction. The jurisdiction/building department is the party that reviews the inspection.


Q: How do I create an account?
A: Go to the Login page and select either Contractor or Jurisdiction. From there click on "Sign Up".


Q: How much does Code Plus Inspections cost?
A: The jurisdiction's manager is required to approve the tool's use due to a fee. $7 fee per "Permit", (only if used). Unlimited inspections per individual permit for 6 month increments. Data is saved for 7 months from initial inspection request. The data saved is not intended to archive jurisdiction's files. Though the jurisdiction can have the files transferred to their own archiving system.


Q: Is there an app for Code Plus Inspections?
A: No. There is no app for our inspection tools, but our website can be used from the browser on your phone.


Q: Why is the photo upload taking so long?
A: Your photo upload process make take a few minutes depending on the size of the images you are uploading and your internet speed. For best results, please use a computer to upload your images with a strong network connection.


Q: What if Code Plus Inspections doesn't offer an inspection I want?
A: You can contact CPI Administraction by emailing support@codeplusinspections.com to request any additional inspections be added to our system.


Q: How do I change geolocation settings for my phone camera?
A: For Apple devices: Launch Settings from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad. Tap Privacy. You'll have to scroll down a bit to find it. Tap Location Services. Tap Camera. Tap Never.
For Android devices: Open the Camera app on your Android smartphone or tablet. Tap on three horizontal lines to open the menu. Now, tap on the gear icon. You will see the camera settings. Tap on GPS tag (on some devices this option is named differently, for instance, geo tag, location tag, etc.) and turn it off.


Q: How many times can I resubmit a VIR?
A: You can resubmite a VIR as many times as is needed until it has passed. After Resubmitting a VIR 7 times, you will need to pay the fee again.


Q: What if I don't have a smartphone with a camera?
A: If you don't have a smart phone, you can take any necessary pictures with a regular camera, upload those to your computer, and from the the computer, upload them to the website.
